So, Mouse has various distractions from work today, not the least of which is giggling about Tiny Niece. They went fishing. Tiny Niece informs me: "I caught SEVEN FISH!"* She also says, "I caught the biggest fish IN THE WHOLE WORLD! IT WAS FOURTEEN** INCHES LONG!"

Now, while Tiny Niece is clearly on her way to telling world-class fishermen's tales,*** I do have to say that fourteen inches ain't bad for rainbow trout. I bet it was delicious.

*By "I caught SEVEN FISH," I think she means "My brother, my dad, and I caught seven fish."
**Tiny Niece is five, so I know she understands "fourteen," but I'm not sure she can actually gauge inches yet. Do you think so?
***Like Old Wives' Tales but with fish. One of Mouse's assorted older brothers tells lots of them.

(Nice drawing of rainbow trout from here. I think the photos are less flattering. They always look menacing through the mouth, in the photos.)

Cute! Possible that your uncle measured it? Fishermen like measuring, weighing (my record is a 21 lb chinook salmon).
