SQUEAK! How's this for a tiny cottage? Mouse loves those bright blue shingles, which would be enough, but it's also right here on Martha's Vineyard, on a little spit of land between two big bodies of water, with a view of the sea. I would imagine lots of cobbler in this cottage, lots of gin rummy, and caipirinhas. (Which we had last night with some Brazilian rum Boyfriend brought home with him, mmmmmm.)

Mouse loves it here despite the gray skies. Painted Adirondack chairs, weathered shingles, old things.

We are in Martha's Vineyard! Here is the West Chop Light, which does not look like this today (today it is rainy and kind of cold, so the bride and groom may or may not hop in the water after all). I'm sort of in and out of Internet, but I will share more when I can! xo, Mouse

I love celebrating love, such fun. Good friends, lawn games, and dark-and-stormies this afternoon.

Mouse is off early early tomorrow to the East Coast and all the sharp people. Will update when I can. Happy long weekend (I'll bring you guys with me in spirit)!

Cool retouched airplane photo from very talented retlop over here.

Someone nice was asking Mouse about face wash recently, since she and I both have sensitive skin that has previously only responded well to Cetaphil (which works great, but has plenty of narsties in it). I'm really happy with this face wash, Jason Red Elements Hydrating Lotion Cleanser, which has lots of antioxidants and gets all the gunk and makeup off (and even out of pores). It does not 1. dry stuff out, 2. cause bumpies on the sides of Mouse's nose or 3. cause general breakouts. Enjoy!

Has anybody tried other things from this line? I don't like the lotion, but I'm curious and may try the masque...

Also, the next hunt: retinol night cream* that does not have parabens. Possibly Skinceuticals. We shall see.

*For undoing many past and unintentional sunburns.

Ahhh, style. Look at her jazzy whites! And her brooch! And her sparkly Jimmy Choos!

From here. They didn't like it; phooey on that.

Ohhhhhh. Tiny cottage in Montana. If Mouse lived here, she would absolutely not be working right now. Instead, she would be sitting about, or reading, or having a long walk, or peeking out the window at a grizzly bear. She would decorate the inside of this with whites and brights, and with cozy furry blankets. She would eat soup and tea and scones that crumble apart and biscuits and probably chili of some kind. And she would have horsies. And she would plant iris in that bog, and they would be purple and lovely. And she would watch hawks circle. What do you think? Want to come visit me in this tiny cottage? There could be checkers and rainy afternoons...

From Tiny House Blog, surprise surprise.

You may only find this delightful if, like Mouse, you spend large chunks of time trying to make people only use cliches that are either 1. the only way to express something or 2. funny, but check out these Sliced Bread Notebooks. Pretty effing funny. It comes with twelve slices/notebooks, one for each month. From The Dieline.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TINY NEPHEW!

Mouse: Happy Birthday!
Tiny Nephew: Tee hee hee hee hee!
Mouse: How old are you today?
Tiny Nephew: TWO!
Mouse: No! I think you're THREE!
Tiny Nephew: I'm getting to be SO OLD...

Mouse woke up at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday to her upstairs neighbor shouting "fire." Opened the door and saw a big wall of flames just outside our dining room, two or three stories high. Ran outside and didn't take anything with me. Did not stop to put on bra. Wondered if my house would burn down. Wondered if my friend, the Red Cross disaster responder, would have to come bring me a blanket and see me with no bra. It was terrifying. It burned through our cables and power cords, and the heat broke one of our windows and shriveled up our tomato plants and my jasmine. The firemen chopped down our garage door with an axe. Our backyard smells like burned plastic.

BUT.

No one was hurt, our house didn't burn down, and all that was lost were two cars (which were insured). We are all feeling incredibly, impossibly lucky. And Mouse is officially grateful for all this wet, rainy, cloudy, cold, un-summery weather, because the fire didn't spread.

P.S.-Boyfriend, please come home from Brazil because things tend to get smoky when you're gone.
