Mouse stayed out too late drinking saketinis with good buddies on a porch, up above the city heat. Then she slept in, deliciously late, and woke up to Boyfriend (who decided to work from home and sweet talk her all morning). She watered the garden and it smelled like lush earth and green things. And her street is full of dapple-y sunlight.

It's a good day. Mouse is happy.

This weekend: a party, a wedding, a sing-along on the beach, house cleaning, a parade. It will be lovely. Hope yours is lovely, too!

Bye, Farrah. And bye to Michael, too! Strange day. Mouse feels old.

Mouse and Boyfriend watched Rear Window last night, and I had to keep pausing it to comment on the general awesomeness of Grace Kelly. I mean, look at the bracelet! The hair! I would like to look like Grace Kelly, and possibly to speak like that. With two syllables in "here." Sigh.

Still from here.

Mouse saw some cool stuff at a Martha's Vineyard antique show. Some excellent animals, and a fan that looks well-loved. Wouldn't it have been fun to always have gloves and a hat and a fan?

Mouse spotted these Toms shoes on the bride and groom of the sharp wedding--he wore some during the actual ceremony! They are sort of perfect for canvas skimmers: there are lots of colors, they are lumpy and comfy. And although they are on the pricey side for canvas shoes at $44-48,* for each pair you buy, the company puts another pair of shoes on a child in need. One for one! Learn more and order Toms here.

*Although Keds are now $36, wtf?

Mouse likes water. After growing up in a western state with so little water that we name our puddles, just the feeling of immersing her feet in the ocean makes Mouse happy enough to last for awhile.

This tiny cottage in Menemsha comes with a seagull on each of its weathered eaves. Mouse likes the look of cedar shingles after a hard winter, and the dangling bait in the window.

This man of honor (r) and his date pulled off "sharp" and went right on to "awesome." Look at the shoes, for crying out loud! Mouse loved this wedding.

More photos soon. The bride and groom stripped down to bathing suits and jumped off the pier after their vows! That's love.

Martha's Vineyard: beautiful but complicated. This article, on the Obama family's rumored vacation there in August, sums up some of Mouse's concerns. The bags above are Obama picnic totes sold on-island. We didn't have any picnic weather, but I would love to go back and do some picnic-ing sometime.

Mouse's landlady has not paid our power bill since last July, so I have to keep this short and conserve my laptop battery til they come fix it. But I wanted to show all you nice mice my favorite "sharp" outfits from the Martha's Vineyard wedding! These are the cutest ones, I think. I love the Chucks. And the hair ribbon. More pics tomorrow, I hope!

Best to you from the Dark Ages,
Mouse
