Three Basic Things Understand About a Log Splitter Before You Rent One

February 18th, 2012

Before you rent a log splitter, is important to understand a few things about how they work and what you should know when you do rent one. The first thing that you should understand is that there are several different sizes of log splitter’s out there. Some of them are much bigger and more powerful than others. The more powerful log splitters are designed for larger logs, and for wood that is much denser.

The second thing you should know is how much it cost to rent one of these machines. Typically it cost $65-$75 to rent one of these machines for a day. This is a pretty good deal considering you can chop wood for five times faster when you use a log splitter. In addition, it means that the log splitter is going to be doing most of the work so all you really need to do is be able to move the rounds and know how to use a log splitter rental.

A Few Words About Lawn Tractors

February 13th, 2012

Finding the best lawn tractor for you can be difficult. It is a big investment so it is worth spending a fair bit of time investigating the market. If you have a large lawn, at least half an acre, a lawn tractor or a riding lawn mower will be a sound investment. While a lot of companies sell ordinary lawn mowers, the number of companies that sell lawn tractors is limited. Husqvarna, Poulan and Toro have several popular lawn tractors on the market. One of the first decisions you need to make is if you prefer manual transmission or automatic transmission. If you want your lawn mowed with least amount of effort, select a lawn tractor with automatic transmission and cruise control. Manual transmission is best for those who want as much control over the tractor as possible. Most lawn tractors have a deck size of at least 42 inches, which is enough for most lawns.

The Choice of the Sutton Coldfield Gardeners to Go for

January 29th, 2012

The choice of the Sutton coldfield gardeners to go for is usually determined by very many underlying factors. One most important thing which you should always take into considerations is that the area has very many people with gardening knowledge. There are those that joined the gardening schools and therefore have the required skills in garden while others decided to learn the entire process by them and through experience. Those who attended the gardening schools are usually very costly and majority of them do not have the experience when compared to those who learned the skills through experience. Depending on the state of your garden and the various activities which you need to be done, it is important that you hire a gardener who really understands the garden needs and is able to fulfill them all ensuring that the garden remains beautiful and healthy all the time as well as the fence is intact.

Our Summer Storms

December 30th, 2011

Cleaning up the mess

We have a great deal of summer storms hit each year, and they can be packing some pretty severe wind gusts with them, enough that every year they can wreck havoc on our mature trees in our yard. I’m usually struggling with a ladder and some hand held pruners trying to rectify the damage, but this year have decided on investing in a high quality Cordless Pole Saw to clean up the mess. Safety First

We had a really severe storm this fall, where id produced wind gusts of >140 kph, so naturally there was a lot of tree damage. Our neighbour was out there the next day, balancing precariously on a ladder with a gas powered chainsaw in his hand, struggling to saw off broken branches with a running saw. Pretty silly when you think about it, as one slip and he could have severed a limb, (and not the tree’s limb!)

I’ll be happy to share

I plan on buying one of those cordless pole saws that are on a telescoping pole, and being powered by a rechargeable electric motor are so much safer than a gas chainsaw, and with the telescoping pole, plus your own body height, they’ll reach to about 20 feet, so very little reason to ever have to use a ladder again. Of course, I’ll be happy to loan it throughout the neighbourhood when the need arises.
